Once the heat transfer fluid reaches the surface,

it is used to heat a working fluid, such as a refrigerant, in a heat pump. The heat pump then transfers the heat to a power cycle

(e.g., organic Rankine cycle or binary cycle) to generate electricity. This process is similar to how traditional geothermal power plants operate, except that the heat transfer fluid is isolated in a closed circuit.
